Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important political figure stated the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
